Bit of interesting railroad history
Today’s featured depot is the Grand Trunk Depot in Lansing
This depot was built in 1902 and closed in 1971. It reopened as a restaurant in 1972, and President Ford even dined here during his Whistle Stop Tour in 1976. The depot was left abandoned in the early 2000s after the restaurant closed. In 2010, Lansing Board of Water & Light (BWL) built a powerplant adjacent to the depot and included it in their project, therefore saving/restoring it.
