Submit Your Article to the Flushing Area Historical Society
We welcome contributions from community members, historians, students, and researchers who wish to share stories, research, or reflections related to the rich history of Flushing, Michigan and the surrounding area.
What We’re Looking For
We accept a wide range of article types, including:
- Personal stories or family histories connected to Flushing
- Research on local landmarks, events, or notable figures
- Historical essays or timelines
- Oral history transcripts or interviews
- Photo essays with historical context
- Articles related to artifacts or documents in our collection
Submission Guidelines
To ensure your article is considered for publication on our website or in our newsletter, please follow these guidelines:
- Length: 500–2,000 words for newsletters, no limit on website but should be focused on a topic.
- Format: Submit as a Word document (.docx) or PDF or text
- Include a title and author name
- Cite sources where applicable
- Include relevant images (optional) with captions and photo credits
- Ensure your writing is clear, respectful, and historically accurate
We reserve the right to edit submissions for clarity, length, and style. Authors will be contacted before any significant edits are made.

Contributor Acknowledgment
