Almost on this day in 1936, Col. Jack Lousma (USMC, Ret.), former astronaut, was born. Why “almost”? Because he was born on February 29! We asked him when he celebrates his birthday: “No one knows whether to celebrate it on February 28 or March 1. I guess it occurs in a split-second at Midnight on February 28 three years out of four. Few well-wishers know there is a major advantage to being born on a Leap Year day. The good deal is that the confusion results in two celebrations on the three off-years and one royal blast on the real Leap Year day!”
