The Flushing Area Historical Society is sharing information about the upcoming March meeting of American Legion Post 283, a local veterans service organization dedicated to supporting those who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces.
The American Legion brings veterans together for fellowship, service, remembrance, and continued support of veterans’ causes at the local, state, and national level.
✅ Who can join the American Legion?
Membership is open to U.S. veterans and active‑duty service members who served at least one day of federal active duty during an eligible period. 
Combat or overseas service is not required. Many veterans who served stateside are eligible and may not realize it.
