  • April 20 Program: The Pharmacy History of Flushing

    Presented by Ray Dorhout

The Flushing Area Historical Society invites the public to join us on April 20 for an engaging program on the pharmacy history of Flushing, Michigan, from the community’s earliest days to the present. And yes—given the date—we promise this talk is strictly educational and requires no prescription.

Our presenter, Raymond G. Dorhout, brings 45 years of experience in the pharmacy profession, including 30 years at Flushing’s Cherry Street Pharmacy. A Ferris State University graduate, Ray worked alongside his father, Raymond “Miles” Dorhout, continuing a multigenerational legacy of pharmacy service in Flushing. Today, he serves as Pharmacy Manager at the Kroger Pharmacy in Flushing, where he has worked for the past 15 years.

Ray will share personal stories and historical insights that connect Flushing’s pharmacies, pharmacists, and patients across generations—highlighting how pharmacy has evolved while remaining rooted in community care.

This program is open to the public. Admission is free, and donations are appreciated.
