Jim was born and raised in Flushing. He was in the first class to attend Central Elementary; he graduated from Flushing High School, graduated from U of M Flint, and obtained his master’s degree from U of M Ann-Arbor.

He taught school at Bentley for six years, then decided farming was his true passion. Jim and his wife Karen helped build the orchard to what it is today. Jim introduced SCRUMPY hard cider; It is known all over the world by people who appreciate organic, traditionally brewed hard cider.

Come and enjoy an evening of fun apple history. Learn who planted the first apple trees in Michigan. Free admission and refreshments will be provided.
