“It’ll n̶e̶v̶e̶r̶ run.” On November 30, 1985, the Pere Marquette 1225 moved under her own power for the first time since 1951. In 1988, the restored locomotive began a whole new career which she continues to this very day. From her home at the Steam Railroading Institute, to the big screen and out on the rails, the 1225 serves as a teacher to all. Inspiring generations who wish to learn her past, present, and future.
The upcoming Cadillac Limited is more than just an excursion; it’s a commemoration, a tribute and a thank you to the people who started it all 50 years ago. The Michigan State University Railroad Club and the Pere Marquette 1225, together they turned the very first page in this incredible story with an idea to keep steam alive and let the old times roll!
