Steam Railroading Institute

The Flushing Area Historical Society’s guest speaker tonight is Bruce Kuffer from the Steam Railroading Institute (SRI). He will discuss with us their volunteer non-profit railroading organization and how they are the caretakers & owners of two historic steam locomotives (The No1225 & No175). The best part is they reside only 20 miles away from this depot’s doorstep in Owosso. We will also hear about some of Michigan’s overall railroading history and how Flushing may have played a role in the mighty Era of Steam! Bruce is a professional engineer and in his retirement has continued to be a very active volunteer with SRI to keep one important part of America’s railroad history alive, well and rolling down the tracks.
